Prime Minister visits New Zealand Plant and Food Research

VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Plant and Food Research (PFR) - a crown research institute of New Zealand, in Auckland on Sunday as part of his ongoing official visit to New Zealand.

The institute cooperates with leading research facilities worldwide to provide innovative solutions to high-tech agriculture development.

It has coordinated with Viet Nam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Ministry of Science and Technology to carry out projects aimed at improving the quality and output of plants with a focus on introduction of new seeds and post-crop technology to bring greater benefits to farmers and businesses.

The institutute also assists export-oriented passion fruit processing through US$3.3 million project approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in November 2023 and the project has been implemented in the northern province of Son La and the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai between 2023 and 2027.

After being briefed about the instite's operations, Prime Minister Pham spoke highly of the institute's research achievements and the outcomes of its cooperation with Viet Nam, paving the ways for the two countries' businesses to boost cooperation in food and agriculture research, production and processing.

Pham expressed his wish to further strengthen agriculture cooperation with New Zealand./.
