Viet Nam, Netherlands agree to deepen partnership on climate and agriculture
VGP – Viet Nam and the Netherlands agreed to further deepen their strategic partnerships on climate change and sustainable agriculture.

The above agreement was reached by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte during their summit meeting in The Hague on Monday.
With this regard, the Dutch side is ready to share experience, knowledge, technology and preferential loans to help Viet Nam develop sustainable agriculture, logistics system, promote green transition, protect biodiversity, and manage water resources in the Mekong Delta, said Prime Minister Rutte.
He pledged to boost cooperation in renewable energy development with Viet Nam and provide assistance in terms of technology for offshore sand mining, land erosion prevention, and revision of the Law on Water Resources.
Rutte welcomed Pham's proposal on the establishment of a trilateral cooperation mechanism on agriculture and food security in order to deal with supply chain disruptions and contribute to the common effort to resolve the global issue of food security.

Prime Minister Pham expressed thanks to the Government and people of the Netherlands for donation of COVID-19 vaccines and medical equipment to help Viet Nam push back the pandemic and revive the economy.
Pham reaffirmed Viet Nam's resolve to strengthen the comprehensive partnership with the Netherlands, inviting Prime Minister Rutte to visit Viet Nam in 2023 when both countries are expected to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
Pham also conveyed regards of Vietnamese Party General Secretary nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue to Prime Minister Rutte.

He suggested the Netherlands soon ratify the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); encourage Dutch businesses to enhance investment in such fields like seaport development, shipbuilding, logistics, and infrastructure connectivity.
He called on the Netherlands to support the European Commission's removal of "yellow card" against Vietnamese seafood exports, and assist Viet Nam to build seaports, airports, and innovation centers.
Pham expressed his hope that both countries would step up locality-to-locality cooperation, such as between Ha Noi and Amsterdam, Ho Chi Minh City and Rotterdam.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to expand cooperation in defense-security, culture-tourism, transport, science and technology, education and training while continue mutual support at multilateral forums like ASEAN-EU, ASEM, the United Nations.
On the East Sea issue, the two sides reaffirmed the importance of ensuring peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea; settling disputes through peaceful measures on the basis of international law.
The pair underlined the significance of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
After their meeting, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing of several cooperation documents between the two countries, including a joint action plan on water resources management, and a joint statement on emission reduction in manufacturing and consumption./.
