Viet Nam, Mongolia announce direct flight

VGP - Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang attended a ceremony to announce a direct route between Nha Trang city in the south central province of Khanh Hoa and Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, in Ha Noi on November 2.

The announcement was part of the Viet Nam-Mongolia Business Forum held during the ongoing five-day State visit of the Mongolian President to Viet Nam.

The direct route, run by low-cost carrier Vietjet, will be operational from December 15, 2023 with two round-trip flights per week.

The route is expected to facilitate and promote investment, tourism, cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Earlier, at the Viet Nam - Mongolia Business Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said that the two countries' business communities will serve as an important force contributing to strongly advancing bilateral ties in the coming time, especially in the fields of economy, investment and tourism.

He was convinced that the two countries will achieve the goal of raising bilateral trade turnover to US$100 million in the near future.

The Deputy Prime Minister proposed that the two sides coordinate and assist each other in improving the effectiveness of regional and international economic integration, continue to exploit existing cooperation mechanisms, including the Viet Nam - Mongolia Intergovernmental Committee.

In reply, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh said that the forum will help boost economic cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.

Viet Nam and Mongolia have many potentials and opportunities for cooperation in fields such as food, energy, agriculture, mining, transportation, environment and tourism, said President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. Enterprises of the two countries can cooperate in supplying iron ore, coking coal, mining and processing rare earths.

The signing of a visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic passports, official passports, and ordinary passports of the two countries during this visit will contribute to connecting people-to-people exchanges, creating favorable conditions for activities and cooperation between businesses of both nations, the Mongolian President said./.
