The agreement was reached by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen during their working breakfast in Vientiane on April 5 on the sidelines of the ongoing fourth Mekong River Commission summit.

They agreed to facilitate investment and business cooperation, bring into full play the land border gate system, and promote border trade exchanges between the three countries, while sharing experience in law-making, effective management and use of official development aid (ODA).

Amid global complicated and unpredictable developments along with the profound impacts of digital technology and social networks, it is necessary for the three countries to spur cooperation and exchange experience in information technology, the leaders emphasized.

Regarding regional and international issues of shared concern, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone once again congratulated Cambodia on its successful hosting of the ASEAN Chairmanship and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) last year, expressing their firm belief that Cambodia will successfully organize the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) and its upcoming 7th general election.

The three Prime Ministers voiced their strong support for the organization of the first tripartite summit between the top leaders of the three legislatures in Laos and the 12th Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Summit in Cambodia this year.

The Vietnamese and Cambodian Prime Ministers affirmed their support for Laos’ ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024./.
