The Government chief made the call at his reception for Lao Minister of Planning and Investment Phet Phomphiphak in Ha Noi on August 19.

Pham hailed the outcomes of the August 16 conference to review the implementation of the Viet Nam-Laos Cooperation Plan Agreement in 2024 and the 2021-2025 cooperation agreement. He appreciated the role of the Viet Nam – Laos Cooperation Committee in removing many difficulties and obstacles in key cooperation projects to facilitate bilateral cooperation in many fields.

Both sides were pleased to witness the growth in the bilateral trade turnover with nearly US$926 million, up 11.1 percent against the same period last year.

Viet Nam continues to maintain its position as the third largest investor in Laos. So far, Vietnamese businesses have poured US$5.5 billion in 255 projects in Laos, with many projects operating effectively, contributing to local socio-economic development.

Prime Minister Pham proposed the Lao Government improve the business environment, support the implementation of ongoing projects in Laos and jointly carry out new projects in fields such as energy, mining, mineral processing, agriculture, tourism, and education.

In reply, Phomphiphak welcomed Pham's proposals,n saying the Viet Nam – Laos Cooperation Committee would coordinate closely with relevant agencies of the two countries to effectively implement high-level agreements reached by their top leaders.

Laos is actively improving its investment and business environment to create favorable conditions for foreign businesses, including those from Viet Nam, to operate effectively in the country, said the Lao minister./.
