Viet Nam commits to successfully hosting APEC Year 2027 in all aspects: Prime Minister

The event saw the participation of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, who is also the Chair of the Viet Nam Organizing Committee for APEC 2027, and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.
Addressing the ceremony, Pham stated that hosting the APEC Year 2027 is an honor for Viet Nam and also an international responsibility, reflecting the nation's commitment to the international community and serves as a testament to the trust and confidence that APEC member economies place in Viet Nam.
Viet Nam officially became a member of APEC in 1998. Throughout this journey, the Asia-Pacific region and the APEC forum have consistently been key priorities in Viet Nam's foreign policy, defense policy, and economic development strategy.
APEC cooperation serves as an important driving force for opening up market, attracting investment, facilitating technology transfer, and enhancing the competitiveness of the Vietnamese economy, noted the Prime Minister.
Pham pledged that Viet Nam is determined to host the APEC Year 2027 successfully, contributing to the concrete implementation of the forum's action programs and vision, while further promoting APEC's role as a leading driver of growth and economic integration in the region and globally.
The nation is currently expanding Phu Quoc International Airport, building a new convention center, and upgrading essential infrastructure such as electricity, water supply, and roads in Phu Quoc island to serve the APEC Economic Leaders' Week and create momentum for long-term development, said the Prime Minister.
He expressed confidence that with unity, determination, and the support of international friends, APEC Year 2027 will be a success, contributing to peace, cooperation, development, and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world.
Speaking at the ceremony, South Korean Ambassador to Viet Nam Choi Young Sam, remarked that Viet Nam has successfully hosted an APEC summit roughly every decade. This demonstrates the nation's leadership role in promoting peace, stability, and shared prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region, he said, adding that choosing Phu Quoc as the host location reflects Viet Nam's clear and forward-looking vision.
The Ambassador stated that as the host of APEC 2025, South Korea will work closely with all stakeholders, especially Viet Nam. He expressed gratitude for Viet Nam's strong support for South Korea's APEC host year, highlighting the close and constructive cooperation between the two countries./.
