Addressing the event, President Widodo held that Indonesia and Viet Nam share the same vision of becoming high-income nations by 2045, suggesting both sides strengthen high quality dialogue and cooperation.

He said that Indonesia welcomes Viet Nam's top corporations to pour more investment in the country, especially in the new capital city Nusantara.

He called on VinFast to expand investment in electric vehicles and Vietjet Air to open more air routes to Indonesia's tourist destinations, expecting that more Vietnamese investors will invest in Indonesia in fields of finance-banking, education, science-technology and manufacturing.

For his part, Prime Minister Pham said, Indonesia, Viet Nam and other nations should strengthen solidarity within ASEAN for the development of each nation and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The Vietnamese leader encouraged enterprises from Indonesia to expand investment in Viet Nam, particularly in emerging sectors such as digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, and sharing economy as well as Halal food industry and agriculture.

Viet Nam always creates the most favorable conditions for businesses, including those from Indonesia to launch sustainable and long-term operation in the country, he reiterated, adding that the nation always protects the legal and legitimate rights and interests of businesses in the spirit of harmonious benefits and shared risks.

At the event, both sides' enterprises shared their interests about each country's economic development policy, mechanisms and measures to enhance investment.

They discussed new development and investment trends and orientations and put foward measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation for both sides.

Economic cooperation is considered as a spotlight in the bilateral ties. Indonesia registered over US$1 billion in investment in Viet Nam during January–November last year, up 37 percent year on year.

Indonesia remains the third largest ASEAN trading partner of Viet Nam, while Viet Nam ranks fourth among trading partners of Indonesia in the region, with bilateral trade reaching nearly US$13 billion in the 11 months.

In a summit meeting between Prime Minister Pham and President Widodo on January 12, they pledged to raise the two-way trade to US$15 billion in the near future and US$18 billion by 2028./.
