The above goal can be achieved through facilitating trade promotion activities and market access, Party General Secretary, President To Lam and Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto agreed at their meeting in Ha Noi on September 13.

To Lam reiterated that Viet Nam stands ready to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia in ensuring food security, calling on Indonesia to make it easier for Vietnamese agricultural and Halal products to get access to the Indonesian market.

The host also called on Indonesia to share experience and help train Vietnamese officers to participate in the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping operations.

He expressed his hope that Indonesia will send high-level representatives to attend the ASEAN Future Forum 2025 and the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in Viet Nam.

For his part, Subianto offered his deep sympathy for the great losses and damage caused by typhoon Yagi in Viet Nam.

Indonesia always treasures the traditional friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam, its only strategic partner in ASEAN, he noted, expressing his wish that two nations will take measures to deepen their ties in a more practical and intensive manner.

The two leaders hailed positive developments in Viet Nam-Indonesia strategic partnership, via all-level mutual visits and contacts, and cooperation in security-defense, maritime affairs, culture, tourism, transport, people-to-people exchanges, and local-to-local linkages.

They vowed to consolidate political trust via increasing exchanges and contacts at all levels, effectively promote bilateral mechanisms, soon complete the building of an action plan to implement the strategic partnership for the next five years; and work closely to organize activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Viet Nam-Indonesia diplomatic relations (1955-2025).

The host and the guest pledged to facilitate both countries' businesses to invest in each other's markets, especially in newly-emerging areas such as digital economy, green economy, energy transition, and electric vehicle ecosystem development.

They concurred in fostering stronger ties in other crucial areas such as defense and security, sharing information as well as coordinating in preventing transnational crimes, and illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Both leaders underlined the need to maintain collaboration and mutual support at regional and international forums and organizations, especially ASEAN, the UN, and the Non-Aligned Movement, and enhance sustainable and equitable development of sub-regions in the region.

They reaffirmed the importance of ensuring peace, stability, safety, security, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea; maintaining solidarity, principled stance, and achievements of ASEAN on the East Sea issue; as well as promoting negotiations on a substantive and effective Code of Conduct (COC) in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982 UNCLOS)./.
