The above findings were unveiled at the Internet Day 2025, which took place in Ha Noi on December 17.
According to data from the Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), the nation has now achieved an Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) adoption rate of nearly 68 percent, taking the lead among ASEAN Member States and opening up new development space for digital society and digital economy.
Furthermore, the current landscape of Viet Nam's Internet infrastructure shows many favorable foundations for a new phase of development. According to international rankings, as of October this year, Viet Nam's fixed broadband Internet speed ranked 10th in the world, while mobile broadband Internet ranked 15th.
The country's digital infrastructure was ranked 67th out of 193 countries, up seven places compared to 2022. The nation has seven submarine fiber-optic cable routes, 45 data centers, and 85 percent of households using fiber-optic Internet.
Viet Nam's 5G network now reaches approximately 59 percent of the population, slightly over one year after commercial services launched in October 2024.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long said, it is necessary to develop an Internet that is safe, humane, and trustworthy, serving socio-economic development, with trust as the foundation, innovation as the driving force, and digital infrastructure as the pillar.
Viet Nam's Internet is entering a new phase, where the goal is no longer limited to expanding broadband coverage or increasing speeds, but instead focuses on ensuring digital trust, data security, transparent transactions, and supporting socio-economic transformation based on digital platforms, told the official./.
