Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentarians' Organization set up

Permanent Vice Chairman of the NA Do Van Chien has been appointed President of the Organization, which includes three Vice Presidents, and one Secretary-General.

Addressing the ceremony, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man highlighted the significance of the Organization, which plays a crucial role in the foreign affairs between the Vietnamese NA and other nations' parliaments.

The top legislator said, after 40 years of Doi Moi, Viet Nam has achieved significant and comprehensive accomplishments in economic, social, defense, security, diplomatic, and political system-building fields.

Diplomacy has played an important role in these achievements, helping to enhance Viet Nam's position and international standing, while creating a solid foundation and strong confidence for the country to enter a new era, he noted.

Parliamentary diplomacy has increasingly demonstrated its important and distinctive role, he said, adding that it has become an important diplomatic channel contributing to the overall outcomes of Viet Nam's foreign relations.

According to the NA Chairman, the National Assembly's external activities aim to maintain and promote friendly relations between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the parliaments, political circles, and peoples of other countries as well as actively participate in multilateral parliamentary forums to promote international integration./.
