At the ministry's regular press conference held on Thursday, Pham said, Viet Nam's stance on China's fishing ban in the East Sea is consistent and has been reaffirmed on multiple occasions.
Viet Nam requests China to respect Viet Nam's sovereignty over the Paracel Islands, as well as sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction over Viet Nam's maritime zones as established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), stated the Spokesperson.
China must respect the rights of Vietnamese fishermen operating legally in Viet Nam's waters and in areas beyond national jurisdiction in accordance with international law, especially the UNCLOS 1982, she stressed.
The Spokesperson called on China to refrain from actions that complicate the situation, and contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and rule-based maritime order in the East Sea.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has engaged in diplomatic communication with the Chinese Embassy in Ha Noi and has also delivered a diplomatic note protesting the aforementioned fishing ban, told Pham.
Regarding the recent joint military exercise between China and Cambodia, Pham said: "We believe that cooperation between countries should contribute positively to peace, security, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world, in line with international practices, and on the basis of international law and fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter"./.
