Viet Nam, Cuba bolster defense cooperation
VGP - Deputy Minister of Defense, Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People's Army Nguyen Tan Cuong and Chief of the General Staff, Deputy Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces Roberto Legrá Sotolongo held talks in Ha Noi on October 24.
The talks formed part of the Cuban deputy minister's official visit to Viet Nam from October 19-28.
Nguyen expected that the visit will make contribution to promoting the bilateral defense cooperation more intensively, practically and effectively in line with the common perceptions of their senior leaders.
Roberto Legrá Sotolongo highlighted the close relations between the two nations and armies, stating that he will do his utmost to deepen Cuba-Viet Nam relations.
Defense cooperation is one of the important pillars in Viet Nam-Cuba relations, noted the two Deputy Ministers.
Following the visit to Viet Nam by the Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces in June 2023, both sides have actively coordinated in deploying areas of cooperation, including delegation exchanges, training, defense industry, Party work, and military medicine, they underscored.
They vowed to continue to maintain the exchange of delegations, share professional experience, and increase cooperation in Party building based on the signed memorandum of understanding.
The pair also agreed to effectively deploy defense industry cooperation in accordance with the needs, capabilities and conditions of each side, while actively deploying partnerships in other areas such as military medicine, training, and military and defense-related legislation./.
