Viet Nam, Cambodia strive to raise trade value to US$10 bln this year

During their meeting on the sidelines of the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM-55) in Phnom Penh on August 3, the two diplomats discussed measures to promote the long-term traditional friendly relations between the two nations.
Viet Nam always advocates Cambodia to successfully fulfill its role as the ASEAN Chair in 2022, underscored the Vietnamese FM.
The two sides agreed to maintain and enhance delegation exchanges, high-level meetings and other comprehensive cooperative mechanisms.
They vowed to organize activities on the occasion of the Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2022 and the 55th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic ties.
Both sides emphasized the significance of fostering economic connectivity and cooperation in defense-security, agriculture, education-training, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

* The same day, Bui joined with other FMs of ASEAN to pay a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and attended the opening ceremony of the AMM-55 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the Cambodian Prime Minister called on ASEAN to strengthen coordination in responding to climate change and environmental degradation, consider the establishment of a ASEAN Green Deal, and bringing the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) into full play.
The bloc must show commitment to surmounting hardships together, particularly boosting post-pandemic recovery and finalizing a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) that is effective and consistent with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), he said.
