From the beginning of 2022, the number of international searches for aviation to Viet Nam has been increasing rapidly. In early April 2022, the increase was about 663 percent year-on-year. It was 1,114 percent in late April and 2,000 percent in May, compared to the same period in 2021.

The search volume of international tourists for Viet Nam's tourist accommodation establishments increased by 103 percent in April and 450 percent in May in comparison with the same periods last year.

The 10 most searched Vietnamese destinations are Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Phu Quoc (Kien Giang Province), Da Nang, Hoi An (Quang Nam Province), Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa Province), Da Lat (Lam Dong Province), Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan Province), Hue (Thua Thien-Hue Province) and Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh Province).

In the first five months of 2022, Viet Nam greeted 365,300 foreign arrivals, or a 4.5 fold rise against the same period last year, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Viet Nam welcomed 172,900 visitors in May, representing a month-on-month increase of 70.6%, up 12.8 times against the same period last year.

The GSO attributed the increases to tourism reopening and resumption of international flights to Viet Nam on the occasion of the SEA Games 31.

According to the latest report on May 24, 2022 of the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) of Viet Nam in 2021 was 52th, up 8 places from 2019.

Viet Nam reopened borders to foreign tourists from March 2022./.
