The resumption of the Ha Noi-Kuala Lumpur route will complete the aviation links between Viet Nam and Malaysia.

The airline is currently operating 11 flights per week on the Ho Chi Minh City-Kuala Lumpur route.

In 2019 before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Viet Nam Airlines served more than 220,000 passengers between Viet Nam and Malaysia.

Since Viet Nam reopened its borders in March 2022, Viet Nam Airlines has resumed most of its international routes with more than 600 flights per week, equivalent to 70 percent of the pre-pandemic level.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV), Viet Nam's airports handled 2.3 million foreign arrivals in January this year, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent.

In 2022, airports across Viet Nam served 99 million passengers, up 228 percent compared to the previous year, with 12 million international passengers and 87 million local passengers.

The number of international visitors to Viet Nam in January totaled over 871,000, up 23.2 percent compared to December and 44.2 times higher than in January last year, reported the General Statistics Office.

Viet Nam's tourism sector targets to welcome about 8 million foreign arrivals in 2023, according to the General Administration of Viet Nam Tourism.
