Viet Nam Airlines opens direct route to India
VGP - National flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines on June 15 officially opened a direct route between Viet Nam and India, with its first flight departing from Ha Noi and landing at the Indira Gandhi international airport in New Delhi at 2:45pm (local time).
The new air route, launched on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam-India diplomatic ties, is expected to help boost trade, cultural, and social linkages between the two countries.
Flights between Ha Noi and New Delhi are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while those between Ho Chi Minh City and the Indian capital are on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Viet Nam Airlines uses the most modern wide-body aircraft, such as Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 for the air route.
India is one of the leading trade partners of Viet Nam while Viet Nam has emerged to become the 15th largest trade partner of India.
The two-way trade has grown by 20 percent annually on average to over US$13 billion in 2021.
Viet Nam and India set up diplomatic relations in 1972 and elevated the ties to strategic partnership in 2007 and comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016./.
