U.S. requested not to put Viet Nam on religious freedom watch list
VGP - The Foreign Ministry has asked the U.S. not to put Viet Nam on its special watch list regarding religious freedom.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry said the U.S.. Department of State' human right report 2022 includes incorrent information on the real situation in Viet Nam.
"Viet Nam pursues a consistent policy of respecting and ensuring human rights and citizen right to freedom of religion and belief, as clearly outlined in the 2013 Constitution and Viet Nam's legal system, as well as in practical implementation," Pham stressed.
Viet Nam's efforts and achievements in protecting human rights, including the right to freedom of religion and belief, have been recognized by the international community over the past years, she said.
Viet Nam stands ready to discuss issues of shared concern with the U.S. in an open, straightforward and mutual respect spirit, contributing to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development between the two countries, the Spokesperson added./.
