Top Vietnamese, Hungarian legislators hold talks in Ha Noi

Tran reiterated that Viet Nam always treasures and wishes to further strengthen its traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Hungary, its first comprehensive partner in Central and Eastern Europe.
For his part, Speaker Kover commended Viet Nam's outstanding achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, adding that there remains considerable potential for bilateral collaboration in economy, trade, investment, tourism, education, and training.
He affirmed that, under Hungary's "Eastern Opening" foreign policy, Viet Nam is regarded as the country's most important partner in Southeast Asia and that Hungary wishes to deepen bilateral relations across all spheres.
Both sides highly valued the recent progress in bilateral ties, reflected in frequent high-level exchanges and growing cooperation between the two legislatures through regular meetings and contacts among leaders, committees, and friendship groups, as well as close coordination at inter-parliamentary forums, particularly the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The guest and the host vowed to enhance high-level exchanges across all channels to reinforce political trust and mutual understanding, laying a foundation for broader and more substantive cooperation.
They pledged to promote collaboration in science and technology, education and training, natural resources and environment, healthcare, culture, and tourism.
The two sides reached consensus on the main theme of the sixth legislative seminar between their National Assemblies, expected to take place in the first half of 2026, and pledged continued coordination and mutual support at regional and international parliamentary forums to contribute to peace, cooperation, and development.
Both legislators highlighted the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea, and resolving disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
The same day, the Hungarian legislator had bilateral meetings with State President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh./.
