Top Vietnamese, Cambodian legislators hold talks in Ha Noi

The top legislators reaffirmed that the two countries attach great importance and give top priority to their bilateral relationship, with parliamentary cooperation serving as a key pillar.
They pledged to closely work to effectively implement the commitments and agreements reached by their senior leaders, step up the exchange of delegations and, enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms.
The legislators underlined the need to promote connectivity in transport infrastructure, border gates, logistics, and supply chains while facilitating trade and investment, with the goal of raising two-way trade to US$20 billion at an early date.
Both sides vowed to accelerate border demarcation and marker planting and coordinate to maintain the shared borderline of peace, stablity, and development.
They also agreed to join hands in organizing activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1967–2027), while strengthening public communication and education on the long-standing tradition of solidarity and friendship between the two nations, particularly among young generations.
The two sides asserted to exchange experience in areas of mutual interest, particularly in institutional development, legal system improvement, and supreme oversight.
They agreed to strengthen ties between specialized committees, parliamentary friendship groups, female parliamentarians, and young legislators; enhance joint oversight of the implementation of cooperation agreements between the two Governments; and support each other at multilateral parliamentary forums of which both countries are members.
Tran urged Cambodia to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese-origin community in the country and foster ties with Viet Nam in the search, recovery, and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia.
Regarding regional and international issues, the two sides pledged to maintain close coordination in order to preserve peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region, further strengthen ASEAN unity, uphold the bloc's centrality, and enhance cooperation within Mekong subregion mechanisms.
The same day, the top Cambodian legislator paid courtesy visits to General Secretary and President To Lam and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung./.
