Top legislator to attend IPU-150, visit Uzbekistan and Armenia
VGP - Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and his spouse will attend the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-150) and pay official visits to Uzbekistan and Armenia from April 2 to 8.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the tour will be made at the invitation of IPU President Tulia Ackson, IPU Secretary-General Martin Chungong, President of the Senate of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, and President of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan.
* Established in 1889 in Paris, France, the IPU comprises of 178 members and 12 associate members. The union's mission is to work with parliaments to safeguard peace and drive positive democratic change through political dialogue and concrete action.
It aims to enhance exchanges and experience sharing between parliaments and contribute to protecting human rights worldwide.
Since Viet Nam joined the IPU in April 1979, its active participation has been acknowledged by other members. Over the years, relations between the Vietnamese National Assembly and other parliaments have been strengthened.
Viet Nam and Uzbekistan established diplomatic ties in 1992.
Trade between Viet Nam and Uzbekistan have increased by 25 percent per year since 2021 and surpassed US$200 million in 2024.

The two-way trade turnover in the first 6 months of 2024 reached nearly US$242 million, up 75 percent compared to the same period in 2023./.
