National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man (C) and his spouse (L) leave Ha Noi on Tuesday morning for an official visit to Senegal
Senegal is the first leg of the top Vietnamese legislator's three-nation tour, which will also take him to Morocco and Switzerland.
The tour is made at the invitations of President of the Senegalese National Assembly El Malick Ndiaye, Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami, IPU President Tulia Ackson, and IPU Secretary-General Martin Chungong.
He is accompanied by NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, and NA General Secretary and Chairman of the NA Office Le Quang Tung.
This is the first official visit to Senegal by a top Vietnamese leader since the two countries established diplomatic relations and the first official visit to Morocco by a senior Vietnamese leader over the last six years.
The tour is expected to contribute to further consolidating and strengthening the friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Viet Nam and Senegal, Morocco, and Switzerland and promoting cooperation between Viet Nam and the African and European regions.
It provides an opportunity for Viet Nam to diversify its economic and trade partnership, foster collaboration across various fields, including parliamentary collaboration with these three countries, and mobilize international resources to serve the country's development goals in this era of national rise.
The tour reflects Viet Nam's commitment to multilateralism, and its determination as a responsible member making active and substantive contributions to the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the United Nations./.
