Top leader To Lam hosts Representative of Azerbaijani President
VGP - Viet Nam hopes to continuously strengthen its traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Azerbaijan for the development interests of both countries, as well as for peace, cooperation and development in the region and around the world.

General Secretary and President To Lam made the above statement while hosting a reception for Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments Elchin Amirbayov in Ha Noi on Friday.
To Lam emphasized that the elevation of the bilateral relations into a Strategic Partnership during his state visit to Azerbaijan in May last year was a historic milestone, ushering in a new phase of development in the bilateral relations and reflecting the political determination and shared vision of the two countries' leaders regarding the prospect for Viet Nam-Azerbaijan relations.
He suggested both sides make the most of the foundation of friendship and mutual trust, capitalize on their complementary potential and strengths, and seize opportunities for cooperation.
The top Vietnamese leader called for the effective implementation of reached commitments and agreements, with a view to deepening the Strategic Partnership, making it more substantive and delivering tangible benefits to their peoples.
Amirbayov, for his part, affirmed that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, together with the country's leadership and people, always treasures and wishes to further strengthen the longstanding traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev wishes to maintain regular, sincere and trusted exchanges and contacts with General Secretary and President To Lam in order to discuss orientations and measures for continuously advancing the Viet Nam-Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership towards a stronger, more substantive and effective manner, for the benefit of their peoples, he stressed.
Amirbayov expressed his support for To Lam's proposal to intensify all-level delegation exchanges; improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms; and promote the role of ministries, sectors, localities, agencies and businesses in translating the content of the Strategic Partnership and high-level agreements and commitments into concrete cooperation programs, plans and projects in key areas.
Both sides reiterated that Viet Nam and Azerbaijan share many commonalities, expressing their wish to continue enhancing close coordination and mutual support within international organizations and multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and other international mechanisms in which both countries participate.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to making positive contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in their respective regions and throughout the world./.
