Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov welcomes General Secretary To Lam and his Spouse at Heydar Aliyev International Aport in Baku capital, May 7, 2025

General Secretary To Lam was welcomed at the airport by First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Viet Nam Shovgi Kamal Oglu Mehdizade.

This is the first visit by a top Vietnamese leader to Azerbaijan since the two countries set up diplomatic relations on September 23, 1992.

The visit is expected to contribute to strengthening the relations between the two countries, particularly in such a field like oil and gas.

In recent years, the two countries maintained robust economic and trade cooperation. Viet Nam mainly exports computers, phones and accessories and aquatic products to Azerbaijan while importing crude oil and related products.

Viet Nam sees Azerbaijan as a gateway to further strengthen cooperation with Central Asian countries and stands ready to act as a bridge for Azerbaijan to enhance relations with East Asian nations.
