To Lam arrives in Paris for Francophonie Summit, official visit to France
VGP - General Secretary and President To Lam at Orly Airport in Paris on Thursday evening (local time) for the 19th Francophonie Summit and an official visit to France.
The Vietnamese delegation was welcomed at the airport by French Justice Minister Didier Migaud.
This is the last leg of the top Vietnamese leader's ongoing tour to three countries from September 30 to October 7.
To Lam is accompanied by Secretary of Ha Noi Municipal Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Chief of Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Chairman of the Central Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission Mai Van Chinh, Chairman of the President Office Le Khanh Hai, Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee for Social Affairs Nguyen Thuy Anh.
His entourage also includes Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh, and Deputy Minister of National Defense Pham Hoai Nam.
The top Vietnamese leader's participation in the Francophonie summit aims to affirm Viet Nam's role as a key member of the Francophonie community in Asia-Pacific, as well as Viet Nam's active and responsible engagement in the activities of the Francophonie community in particular and the international community at large, thus contributing to consolidating and strengthening multilateralism and international cooperation and solidarity.
This also marks the first visit by a Vietnamese President to France over the past 22 years, which aims to deepen the Viet Nam-France strategic partnership./.
