Strong impetus to spur Viet Nam-Germany strategic partnership
VGP - The upcoming State visit to Viet Nam by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his spouse is expected to serve as a strong impetus for the Viet Nam-Germany strategic partnership, said German Ambassador to Viet Nam Guido Hildner.
The Ambassador made the above statement on the threshold of the State visit scheduled on January 23 -24 at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong and his spouse.
The diplomat said the visit is the personal wish of President Steinmeier as he knows Viet Nam from previous trips in his role as foreign minister and he is looking forward to see how Viet Nam has developed during the time.
During his visit to Viet Nam, President Steinmeier will hold talks with President Vo Van Thuong and meet with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue.
In addition, Steinmeier will visit the Confucian Temple of Literature and meet with trainees, teachers and skilled worker recruiters to learn more about the exchange of skilled workers between Viet Nam and Germany. This will be followed by an exchange on the topic of migration biographies and experiences.
On the second day of his visit to Viet Nnam, Steinmeier will fly to Ho Chi Minh City where he and the German business delegation will hold talks with local business representatives. Topics will include the prospects for economic and trade relations between the two countries. President Steinmeier will then visit the Vietnamese-German University (VGU), where he will give a speech to students and teaching staff.
Ambassador Guido Hildner said Viet Nam experienced impressive developments over the last decades. Germany has accompanied and supported it on the path.
Hundreds of German companies have invested in Viet Nam and created joint-stocked companies.
Thousands of Vietnamese students have studied in Germany. Education is one of the focuses of bilateral cooperation. Other areas of cooperation are energy, environment and climate change.
Last but not least, there is a large Vietnamese community in Germany with several hundred thousand people and they are important bridges between the two countries, noted Guido Hildner.
Guido Hildner said both sides would like to continue and expand existing cooperation in both economic and political areas as Germany sees Viet Nam as an important partner in preserving and developing the international rules-based order.
On energy transition, Germany wants to assist and support Viet Nam in its way towards renewable energies and away from fossil energies such as coal. Germany was among those countries that founded just energy transition partnership with Viet Nam.
On labor cooperation, German labor market offers attractive job opportunities for skilled Vietnamese workers, said the diplomat.
The Ambassador said he looks foward to further expanding the Viet Nam-Germany relationship which is very solid and strong.
He also looks forward to Viet Nam growing economically and taking over more political responsibility as he is convinced that this will contribute to the stability in the region./.
