Standing Committee of National Assembly opens 31st session
VGP - Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue presided over the 31st session of the National Assembly Standing Committee in Ha Noi on March 14.
The session drew the attendance of Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long, Minister of Construction Le Thanh Nghi, Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh, and Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quoc Hung, among others.
Chairman Vuong said that the session is scheduled to take place in three and a half days to give comments and make decision on important issues.
Specifically, a number of bills will be discussed, including the Capital Law (revised); Law on Asset Auctions (revised); Law on Organization of People’s Courts (revised); Law on Road; Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety; Law on National Defense Industry, Security and Industrial Mobilization; and Law on Social Insurance (revised).
These bills will then be submitted to the 2024 mid-year National Assembly session for consideration and approval.
The lawmakers will also consider and decide on the establishment and arrangement of a number of administrative units in the southern provinces of Binh Duong and Tien Giang.
A highlight of the ongoing session is a hearing during which Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son will answer the lawmakers’ questions relating to issues under their leadership.
Minister Ho is expected to respond to questions about the management and supervision of insurance business activities and services, the licensing of companies that provide finance-related services, and the enforcement of laws on lottery, betting, casino and prize-winning electronic games.
He will also deal with customs procedures, customs inspection and supervision; measures to prevent and combat smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across borders; and the management of prices of goods and services on the list of goods and services priced by the State.
Meanwhile, Minister Bui will answer questions about the protection of Vietnamese citizens abroad; law violations by Vietnamese nationals abroad and foreigners in Viet Nam; and the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese fishermen at sea.
He will also talk about the implementation of bilateral and multilateral agreements and solutions to promote the implementation of economic, trade and investment cooperation agreements; and the ministry’s efforts in expanding export markets and helping Vietnamese businesses avoid fraud.
He will also update about the management, improvement of qualifications and organizational capacity of the diplomatic sector, as well as solutions to strengthen the fight against corruption and negativity in diplomatic activities./.
