Yagi death toll in Viet Nam rises to 49
VGP – As of 5 p.m. on September 9, typhoon Yagi, the most powerful storm this year, has left 49 people dead in Viet Nam, reported the Disaster and Dyke Management Authority.

The deaths include 8 in Cao Bang province, 18 in Lao Cai, and 9 in Quang Ninh, according to the Authority.
At least 22 people are still missing and 732 others have been injured.
Yagi reached Viet Nam’s northern coast in the evening of September 7, causing extensive power outage and telecommunication service disruption in several localities.
The storm weakened into a tropical pressure early Sunday but heavy rain is anticipated to continue in the northern region until September 11, leading to high rísk of severe flooding and landslides in mountainous provinces./.
