Of the figure, 65 flights were cancelled for safety reasons, including 26 international flights, the authority said in a statement released on Sunday morning.

On September 6, Viet Nam announced temporary closure of four airports: Noi Bai in Ha Noi, Van Don in Quang Ninh, Cat Bi in Hai Phong and Tho Xuan in Thanh Hoa for fear of devastating consequences of Yagi, the most powerful storm in three decades.

CAAV decided to resume flight service at Van Don airport from 8 p.m. on September 7; Cat Bi airport from 12 p.m. on September 7; Noi Bai airport from 11:50 p.m. on September 7, and Tho Xuan airport from 10 p.m. from September 7.

The authority also said it has considered to allow airlines to conduct additional flights to meet travel demands from September 8 as Yagi has weakened into a tropical pressure./.
