In her open remarks, Ms Jariya Chirathivat, Vice President of Central Group, emphasized Viet Nam was Thailand's most important trading partner and the country with the most significant potential for fruit and vegetable exports in ASEAN.
Attending the event, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, Phan Chi Thanh, highly appreciated Central Retail's efforts to promote Vietnamese fruits in the Thai market, contributing to the restoration of agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
This year, Central Retail has exported more than 3 tons of Luc Ngan lychees to Thailand with full logos, labels, information about GlobalGAP certification, and geographical indication stamps.
Vietnamese lychee products are sold on the stalls of Tops and Tops Food Hall supermarkets in Central's commercial centers in Bangkok. Each box of Vietnamese lychee weighing 1kg is sold for 279 baht, equivalent to nearly VND200,000.
Mr Paul Le, Vice Chairman of Central Group, said the number of Vietnamese lychees Central exports to Thailand increased annually.
On May 15, Central Retail Viet Nam and the Bac Giang Provincial People's signed an agreement to bring up to 300 tons of lychees to Thailand this year./.
