Viet Nam's parliamentary delegation meets foreign representatives on AIPA-44 sidelines

Chairman of the NA Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha met with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation of the Ukrainian Parliament, Oleksandr Merezhko, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament's Committee for Foreign Affairs Nikoloz Samkharadze.

He also held talks with members of the Foreign Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Ties Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament, MP Kamran Bayramo, and Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Valery Mitskevich.

At the meetings, Vu stressed that Viet Nam always attaches importance to friendship and cooperation with the countries and wishes to expand collaboration with its traditional friends in all spheres to benefit both sides.

The Ukrainian side affirmed that the country wants to strengthen its relations with Viet Nam and expressed concern over food and energy security issues and the disrupted supply chain.

The two sides believed that disputes should be settled by peaceful measures in line with international law.

Meanwhile, Viet Nam and Azerbaijan agreed to work harder to make their bilateral trade ties on par with their potential and promote their traditional friendship.

Viet Nam and Georgia consented to step up cooperation in areas where both sides have potential, such as transport, infrastructure development, digital transformation, energy transition, culture, and tourism, to name a few.

At the meeting with Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Valery Mitskevich, Vu suggested the two countries foster results-oriented cooperation optimize their strengths, and trade agreements to boost their economic and trade ties.

The Vietnamese official also hoped that the two sides could strengthen their parliamentary ties, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

At the same time, the Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese NA's Committee for External Relations, Don Tuan Phong, met with the Chairman of the European Parliament (EP) Delegation for Relations with the Countries of Southeast Asia and ASEAN, Daniel Caspary.

Regarding the meeting with the EP delegation, Don suggested that Viet Nam and the EP maintain the exchange of high-level delegations and conferences and effectively implement cooperation mechanisms in all spheres, from politics, national defence, and security to trade and investment./.
