Viet Nam’s National Day Holiday to last four days
The 2025 National Day holiday will span from Saturday, August 30, to Tuesday, September 2. This period includes the two official public holiday days designated for National Day under Vietnamese law, combined with the regular weekend (Saturday and Sunday), resulting in a continuous four-day holiday.
According to the 2019 Labor Code, employees in Viet Nam are entitled to 11 fully paid public holidays annually including one day for New Year's Day (January 1), five days for the Lunar New Year (Tet), one day for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day (the 10th day of the third lunar month), one day each for Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1), and two days for National Day (September 2).
Additionally, foreign employees working in Viet Nam are entitled to one extra day off for their home country's National Day and another day for a traditional New Year holiday specific to their culture.
On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, Ha Noi.
In 2025, the country will celebrate the 80th anniversary of this historic moment with especially grand festivities.
In particular, the Ministry of National Defense, in coordination with relevant agencies, is preparing a grand parade and march at Ba Dinh Square in Ha Noi to mark the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam's National Day on September 2./.
