Viet Nam treasures Comprehensive Partnership with Chile: Prime Minister

The Prime Minister welcomed the Chilean diplomat to Viet Nam as the two countries celebrate the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations (1971–2026), affirming that Viet Nam always attaches importance to its traditional friendship and Comprehensive Partnership with Chile.

Le spoke highly of the positive development of traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in recent years. He called on both sides to work closely together to promote delegation exchanges at all levels and through various channels, including Party-to-Party and parliamentary diplomacy.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to effectively implement existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the political consultations and the free trade council; facilitate market access for each country's key export products; and strengthen collaboration in finance and banking, science and technology, and defense and security.

Le suggested both sides enhance connectivity in transport, logistics and supply chains, as well as coordination at multilateral and inter-regional forums and mechanisms. He also underscored the role of Viet Nam and Chile as gateways connecting and promoting integration between Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Mackenna, for his part, briefed the Prime Minister on the successful talks he had held with Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, asserting that Chile considers Viet Nam one of its leading partners in Southeast Asia.

Chile wishes to further strengthen the Comprehensive Partnership, particularly in the areas of economy, trade and investment, while leveraging the strengths of both countries, said the guest.

The minister highlighted the potential for further bilateral cooperation in agricultural trade, agriculture and high-tech agro-processing, mining and energy transition, science and technology, and education.

He also proposed the two countries review and promote negotiations on a number of cooperation agreements in finance, trade and combating transnational crime./.
