Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son made that statement on June 12 while hosting a reception for Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand Sarun Charoensuwan who is on a visit to Viet Nam to co-chair the 9th Viet Nam-Thailand political consultation.
Bui spoke highly of the strong and extensive development in Viet Nam-Thailand enhanced strategic partnership, particularly in fields of politics-diplomacy, trade and investment.
He suggested both sides uphold the role of the political consultation mechanism in proposing measures to effectively implement agreements reached by the two countries' senior leaders and foreign ministries.
The Vietnamese diplomat recommended the two ministries step up all-level delegation exchanges, especially in 2023 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Viet Nam-Thailand strategic partnership.
The two ministries should uphold their role as a bridge in accelerating the realization of the action plan implementing the enhanced strategic partnership in the 2022-2027 period, especially the "Three Connections" initiative that covers supply chain; economies, businesses and localities; and sustainable growth strategies, he noted.
He underlined the need to strengthen mutual support at multilateral mechanisms, particularly the United Nations, ASEAN and the Greater Mekong Subregion.
For his side, Sarun Charoensuwan vowed to enhance coordination with Viet Nam to effectively carry out cooperation activities across all crucial sectors, including defense, security, trade, investment, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
Viet Nam is an important partner of Thailand in the region, he reiterated, suggesting the two nations bolster close collaboration to maintain solidarity and centrality of ASEAN and step up cooperation at international and regional mechanisms./.
