Viet Nam supports Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025

The top Vietnamese Party leader made the point on Tuesday during a reception for Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim who is present in Viet Nam to attend the 2nd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF).

To also pledged to support priorities and initiatives put foward by Malaysia during the ASEAN Chairmanship Year.

The Party chief congratulated Malaysia on its important achievements in socio-economic development.

He was convinced that Malaysia will become one of the fatest-growing economies in Asia and soon join the group of 30 largest economies in the world in the next decade.

In reply, Prime Minister suggested that committees and coordination mechanisms between the two countries should work to concretize the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into specific plans and actions for immediate implementation and early results.

Both sides agreed to continue enhancing collaboration and supporting each other at regional and international organizations, especially ASEAN and the United Nations.

Regarding the East Sea issue, both sides agreed to continue support for ASEAN's common stance on the East Sea, ensuring full and serious implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and accelerating negotiations to conclude an effective and substantive Code of Conduct in the East Sea in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), towards building the East Sea into a sea of peace and cooperation./.
