General Secretary To Lam and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim co-chair a press briefing to announce the outcomes of their summit meeting in Putrajaya City, November 21, 2024

The decision was reached during the summit meeting between General Secretary To Lam and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya City on November 21.

With this upgrade, Malaysia has become the 9th nation to rise to the top of Viet Nam's diplomatic hierarchy after China, Russia, India, South Korea, the U.S., Japan, Australia, and France.

Under the new partnership framework, Viet Nam and Malaysia will work together to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation in politics, defense, and security to create a firm foundation for ensuring a peaceful and stable environment for development in each country, to effectively run the existing dialogue and cooperation mechanisms, and to explore the establishment of new mechanisms in the new context, General Secretary To Lam told reporters following the summit meeting.

The Party chief reaffirmed Viet Nam's support for Malaysia as the Chair of ASEAN in 2025 as well as its commitment to working closely with all ASEAN Member States to translate the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 into reality.

On the occasion, General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim witnessed the exchange of two MoUs on trade and renewable energy cooperation between the two countries.
