Petroleum wholesalers and distributors have prepared supply sources, blending systems, infrastructure and retail networks for the rollout of E10 petrol nationwide.

E10 RON 95-III set to fully replace conventional RON 95-III across retail systems. Meanwhile, E5 RON 92 will continue to be supplied until the end of 2030.

E10 is a gasoline blend containing 10 percent ethanol mixed with mineral gasoline and is used as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels.

Unlike conventional gasoline, ethanol—the main component of E10—can be produced domestically from agricultural feedstocks. This creates a value chain linking the energy and agricultural sectors, helping secure output for agricultural products while enhancing self-reliance in the fuel supply structure.

Compared with traditional gasoline, E10 helps reduce CO2 emissions and other pollutants while strengthening energy security by lowering fuel imports and promoting higher-value domestic products.

Notably, E10 gasoline consumption has increased by around 40 percent compared to the initial rollout period.

The nationwide use of E10 biofuel to replace pure mineral gasoline is considered an important measure to implement the Party and State's consistent policy of building a green economy, promoting sustainable development, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and lowering dependence on fossil fuels. It is also regarded as one of the foundations for realizing the country's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Earlier, the sale of E10 biofuel was piloted in Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, and Hai Phong from August 1, 2025.

E10 gasoline has already been widely adopted in many countries, with some markets moving toward E15 or E20 blends to further improve environmental performance./.
