Viet Nam seeks Japan's assistance for renewable energy development

VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested Japan continue assistance for Viet Nam in developing renewable energy industry.

Pham made the above suggestion during his meeting with Japanese counterpart Kishida Fumio on the sidelines of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on November 13.

Pham also asked Japan to help Viet Nam access to the US$10 climate funding pledged by Kishida at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 26).

For his side, Kishida affirmed Viet Nam holds a leading important position in Japan's new foreign policy towards the region.

He promised that Japan will provide new-generation official development assistance for and support the Southeast Asian country in socio-economic development, modernization and industrialization, and green transition

Kishida informed that Japan will officially announce the opening of its market for Vietnamese longan within this month.

Earlier on Saturday, Pham met with Cambodian counterpart Canada Justin Trudeau, during which the pair agreed to boost the exchange of high-level visits to work out orientations to further deepen Viet Nam-Canada relationship in an effective and practical manner.

Pham called on Canada to assist Viet Nam in several areas like energy, digital transformation, green transition, policy making, and human resource development.

He took the occasion to invite Trudeau to soon visit Viet Nam again./.
