The State visit is made at the invitation of First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez and his spouse.

He is accompanied by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Chairman of the Central Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai.

This is To Lam's first Cuba visit after his election as head of the Party and the State, demonstrating the high regard the Vietnamese Party and the State, and the top leader himself place on Cuba as well as the bilateral relationship.

Cuba was the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with Viet Nam in 1960. Over the past nearly 65 years, the traditional solidarity, mutual support, and comprehensive cooperation have continuously been consolidated and strengthened across spheres.

The relationship between the two Parties has been growing intensively, serving as the political foundation and guiding the development of the Viet Nam-Cuba ties. Both sides have maintained bilateral engagements and all-level delegation exchanges.

Cuban Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen said To Lam's visit is of great significance, noting the two sides are expected to reach important agreements in the Party aspect, contributing to promoting the relations between the two Parties./.
