The three-nation tou will be made at the invitation of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Tulia Ackson, IPU Secretary-General Martin Chungong, Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami, and Speaker of the Senegalese National Assembly El Malick Ndiaye, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Since joining the IPU in 1979, the Vietnamese NA has always demonstrated active and responsible participation and shared policy-making experiences with parliaments of other countries.
Viet Nam successfully hosted several key IPU events, notably, the 132nd IPU Assembly in Ha Noi in 2015. Themed "Sustainable Development Goals: Turning Words into Action", the 132nd IPU drew the participation of over 160 parliamentary delegations. During this event, the IPU members approved the Ha Noi Declaration to promote parliamentary action in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Remarkably, in September 2023, Viet Nam hosted the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians under the theme "The role of youth in promoting the realization of sustainable development goals via digital transformation and innovation", with the participation of nearly 700 domestic and international delegates.
The Vietnamese NA has also actively joined the IPU's leadership and governance mechanisms. It assumed the presidency of the Asia-Pacific Geopolitical Group at the IPU Assembly in 2006 and 2016, and the ASEAN+3 Group in November 2021.
Especially, the Vietnamese NA's representatives were twice elected to the IPU Executive Committee in the 2007–2011 and 2015–2019 tenures, and designated as IPU Vice President in 2009 and 2019.
Switzerland is a major trading partner and the sixth-largest European investor in Viet Nam, and Viet Nam have maintained regular high-level mutual visits and meetings, as well as close coordination at multilateral forums and international organizations with Switzerland.
On January 21, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter agreed in principle to further elevate the Viet Nam–Switzerland relations to effectively leverage their strengths and potential, during their talks in Davos.
Viet Nam and Morocco have a good historical bilateral relationship since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1961.
The Viet Nam-Morocco Friendship Association was officially established in Ha Noi on December 13, 2021, marking a new milestone in promoting relations between the two countries.
Viet Nam and Senegal established diplomatic ties in 1969.
During the meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Senegalese counterpart Ousmane Sonko on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, China, on June 25, the two leaders agreed to increase high-level exchanges and mutual visits, promote trade and investment promotion activities, facilitate business connections, and foster market access for each other's key export products, with a strong focus on agriculture./.
