The top Vietnamese legislator spoke highly of Volodin’s visit, describing it a significant event contributing to consolidating and enhancing the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in general and between the two legislative bodies in particular.
Vuong said Viet Nam highly values the role of political parties in Russia, as well as the achievements Russia has recorded under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin.
Viet Nam supports Russia to play an active role in Asia-Pacific and stands ready to act to spur cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries, affirmed Vuong.
He called on the Russia side to back the positions of ASEAN and Viet Nam in resolving disputes by peaceful measures on the basis of international law, the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Both sides agreed to continue coordination at multilateral forums, including ASEAN and the United Nations.
The pair help that the two countries have actively coordinated in the implementation of the agreements and outcomes reached at the 24th meeting of the Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation.
Vuong suggested the Russian side simplify import procedures for Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products, and push for the revision of the Viet Nam-Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Free Trade Agreement towards lifting the two-way trade to US$10 billion by 2030.
The two sides agreed that oil, gas and energy cooperation is an important pillar of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Russia, and spoke highly of the results of the 3rd meeting of the Viet Nam - Russia Cooperation Committee on education, science and technology in November 2022.
Vuong thanked Russia for continued provision of 1,000 scholarships for Viet Nam each year, asking the Russian side to continue maintaining and promoting joint cooperation projects in the field of science and technology.
He gave appreciations to the State Duma of Russia and Volodin personally for their contributions to promoting bilateral relations, including cooperation between the two countries' parliaments.
Vuong thanked the Russian parliament for sending a delegation of parliamentarians to the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians hosted by the Vietnamese National Assembly in Ha Noi last September./.
