Prime Minister hosts FedEx Express President and CEO

At the meeting, Richard W. Smith shared, after 30 years of operation in Viet Nam, the corporation is now running 36 return flights per week, making it the second biggest express delivery service in Viet Nam.

He expressed his belief in Viet Nam's economic growth prospects in the upcoming time, speaking highly of the nation's investment environment and potentials.

Richard W. Smith said the corporation wants to maintain logistics activities at Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Pham, for his part, asserted that Viet Nam continues developing infrastructures and logistics to reduce expenditures and costs for businesses, committing to creating favorable conditions for enterprises, including those from the U.S. to launch long-term, sustainable and effective operation in the country.

The Vietnamese Government is focusing on constructing Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai, turning it into a regional and world logistics center, noted the Prime Minister, suggesting FedEx Express support Viet Nam in the airport construction process and expand operation of the corporation in the airport.

Long Thanh airport, set to replace Tan Son Nhat as Viet Nam's largest, will be completed and put into use within the first half of 2026.

Viet Nam expects to break into the top 40 of the World Bank's Logistics Performance Index (LPI) for the 2025-2035 period, up from its current ranking of 43rd. This is one of the key objectives of Viet Nam's draft logistics development strategy for the 2025-2035 period, with a vision for 2045./.
