In the letter, Pham expressed his belief that India would continue strong development course and play an increasingly greater role and position on the international arena under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

He expressed his wish to work with Modi to further promote Viet Nam-India traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership, meeting the aspirations of their peoples and contributing to peace and cooperation in the region and the world.

Viet Nam and India established diplomatic ties in 1972 and upgraded ties to strategic partnership in July 2007, and a comprehensive strategic partnership in September 2016.

In 2022, the two countries celebrated the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations and both countries are working actively together to further strengthen their multi-dimensional cooperation.

During April 2023-March 2024, India-Viet Nam trade stood at US$14.82 billion where India's export to Viet Nam amounted to US$5.47 billion and Viet Nam's exports to India were US$9.35 billion./.
