Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Semcorp deputy chairman Tow Heng Tan witnessed the signing ceremony of the agreement which will include the building of a submarine power transmission line between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham welcomed Sembcorp’s investment plans in Viet Nam, including the efficient operation of the partnership between the Singaporean group and Bexamex group of Viet Nam in developing the Viet Nam – Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) in the country.

Sembcorp has teamed up with the Vietnamese partner to establish VSIPs in seven Vietnamese localities and it plans to set up the similar model in Nghe An and Lang Son provinces, as well as to undertake off-shore wind farms in Viet Nam to export energy to Singapore.

The Prime Minister agreed to assign relevant ministries, agencies and localities to collaborate with Sembcorp to make necessary procedures for those projects to take shape soon.

He suggested Sembcorp give comments to the amendment and adjustment of the draft Land Law.

In reply, the Sembcorp leader affirmed that the group will continue to expand operation activities in Viet Nam, looking forward to continuing to cooperate closely and get support to implement VSIP and renewable energy projects.

Prime Minster Pham Minh Chinh is currently on a three-day official visit to Singapore, starting on February 8./.
