Official welcome ceremony held for Prime Minister in Singapore
VGP - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on February 9 hosted an official welcome ceremony for Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Office of the President of the Republic of Singapore (The Istana).
After the ceremony, the Vietnamese Prime Minister paid a courtesy call on Singaporean President Halimah Yacob and held talks with his Singaporean counterpart.
This is the first trip to Singapore by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh since he took office in 2021 and the first made by a head of the Vietnamese Government to the island country over the past five years.
This year, Viet Nam and Singapore will celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of strategic partnership.
Singapore is now Viet Nam's top important economic partner in the region, with two-way trade nearing US$9 billion last year, up 10.1 percent on year.
The island state leads ASEAN and ranks second among the 141 countries and territories investing in Viet Nam with 3,032 valid projects worth US$70.39 billion.
At present, 12 Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Parks in nine Vietnamese cities and provinces have an occupancy rate of around 83.2 percent, attracting US$17.6 billion for some 900 projects and generating roughly 300,000 jobs.
