The Institute of International Education (IIE) released its Open Doors report on international students in the U.S. on November 17.
During 2024-2025, the number of Vietnamese students saw a year-on-year increase of 16 percent, keeping Viet Nam in the top five countries with the most students in the U.S. This is the highest number since the 2000–2001 academic year, when the IIE first released data on Vietnamese students.
Among Vietnamese students, Business Administration is the most popular field of study, chosen by 23 percent. Computer Science is the second most common (nearly 22 percent), followed by Engineering (around 12 percent).
IIE is a non-profit organization operating in the field of educational exchange in the U.S. The Open Doors report is conducted annually and has been funded by the U.S. Department of State since 1972./.
