The airport served 124,546 passengers, marking the highest daily throughput ever recorded at northern Viet Nam's largest aviation hub. Of the total, 48,837 were international travelers, while 75,709 flew on domestic routes.

This was the busiest day in the airport's operational history, with 702 flights taking off and landing, including 317 international and 385 domestic services.

Congestion at the international terminal was eased significantly thanks to the expansion of Terminal T2, which has been in operation since late 2025.

At domestic Terminal T1, all 98 check-in counters were fully optimized, while additional counters at halls A, B and E were kept on standby to handle extra flights and reduce localized congestion.

Passengers were encouraged to use the national digital identification platform VNeID for domestic travel to speed up procedures. A range of automated systems—including self-service check-in kiosks, automatic baggage drop facilities, smart security screening, and e-gates—also helped streamline the passenger experience and minimize queues.

Meanwhile, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City - Viet Nam's biggest economic locomotive, also experienced its busiest day of the 2026 Tet holiday and recorded the highest passenger volume in its history. The southern aviation hub handled 1,069 flights carrying 177,859 passengers. The heaviest pressure was on arrival flights, as travelers from northern and central provinces returned to Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring southern localities ahead of the first working and school days of the new year.

Data shows  that about 540 inbound flights transported more than 104,700 passengers, surpassing previous peaks recorded on the fourth and fifth days of Tet./.
