Viet Nam and Lithuania established diplomatic relations in 1992. Viet Nam consistently values its friendship with Lithuania and seeks to deepen bilateral ties with this traditional partner while Lithuania considers Viet Nam as a key partner in Southeast Asia.
In the first quarter of 2025, bilateral trade reached US$94.7 million, marking a 94.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Lithuania currently maintains three active foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in Viet Nam, totaling approximately US$260,000, focusing on media, science and technology, and healthcare.
The two countries also maintain close cooperation and mutual support at regional and international forums.
There are around 100 Vietnamese citizens residing and working in Lithuania, mainly at shopping centers in the capital, Vilnius. In addition, about 100 Vietnamese laborers and students are living and studying in the country.
The Vietnamese Association in Lithuania, established in 2012 and officially recognized by local authorities, promotes unity, mutual support, and a strong connection to the homeland. It has made significant contributions to the local economy and society, earning praise from Lithuanian authorities./.
