Sullivan reiterated that the U.S. attaches importance to the relationship with Viet Nam, advocating a strong, independent, resilient, and prosperous Viet Nam, and supporting the Southeast Asian nation to play an increasing role in the region and the world.

He expressed his delight at the active implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and high-ranking agreements reached by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and U.S. President Joe Biden during Biden's State visit to Viet Nam in September last year.

He affirmed that the U.S. continues assisting Viet Nam in boosting high-tech development, energy transition, climate change adaption, and war aftermath settlement.

Bui, for his side, expressed his satisfaction on specific and active outcomes of the bilateral relations, particularly in all-level delegation exchanges.

Viet Nam considers the U.S. a strategically important partner and highly values the U.S. support for a strong, independent, resilient and prosperous Viet Nam, he affirmed.

Both sides should step up cooperation across all pillars of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, giving priority to preparing for delegation exchanges and contacts, maintaining the existing dialogue mechanisms, exploring the possibility to open new mechanisms, and expanding cooperation in economy and trade, science-technology, especially in innovation and high-quality human resources, Bui suggested.

Minister Bui expected that the U.S. will soon recognize Viet Nam as a market economy.

During the meeting with the Administrator of the USAID, Bui hailed the USAID's assistance for Viet Nam in overcoming war aftermath, supporting persons with disabilities and improving education, training and health care.

He suggested the USAID continue devoting resources to implementing detoxification projects at Bien Hoa airport, searching for missing Vietnamese soldiers, improving DNA assessment capacity, and supporting people with disabilities and war victims.

He called on the two sides to expand cooperation in new areas such as training high-quality human resources, responding to climate change, speeding up energy conversion, and expanding Fulbright University to become a regional training center.

Samantha Power, for her part, confirmed that the USAID always prioritizes the relations with Viet Nam, adding that the organization will continue efforts to realize agreements reached by the two countries' senior leaders.

They vowed to promote close coordination in approving and implementing USAID-sponsored projects in Viet Nam, contributing to enhancing the Viet Nam-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership more intensively and practically across all sectors./.
