Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son made that above statement while delivering a speech at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)'s Ministerial Council Meeting that took place in Paris, France, on May 2-3.

The Vietnamese Foreign Minister suggested that the OECD take the lead in promoting global cooperation, specifically in building a global innovative ecosystem that effectively harnesses the dual trends of green transition and digital transformation, with a focus on innovation, AI, and just energy transition.

It is necessary to establish mechanisms for experiences sharing and capacity building to help countries maximize human potential, unleash growth drivers, and foster inclusive prosperity, he underlined.

OECD countries should provide financial, technical, and technological support for non-OECD ones' implementation of strategic breakthroughs, particularly in human resources, infrastructure, and institutions, Bui recommended.

The Vietnamese FM, in his capacity as the co-chair of the OECD Southeast Asia Regional Program (SEARP) for 2022-2025, also addressed a commemoration ceremony marking its 10th anniversary, which was a highlight within the framework of the ministerial council meeting.

In the next decade, the program should further enhance its role as a bridge for deeper and more substantive engagement of Southeast Asian countries in global governance processes, particularly in such areas as green transition, tax cooperation, and AI, he proposed.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation also participated in several other important activities, including a ministerial dialogue of the Inclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Approaches (IFCMA) and an event discussing safe, secure, and trustworthy AI governance.

The same day, Bui had a meeting with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann.

He suggested the OECD support the nation to carry out 15 projects within the framework of the Viet Nam-OECD Action Program in the 2022-2026 period.

Meanwhile, both sides should strengthen partnership on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), he recommended.

The organization should help Viet Nam participate more deeply in its specialized committees to contribute to the process of building global governance policies, especially in fields of finance, tax, economics, development, digital policy, investment, science and technology, he added.

Mathias Cormann hailed the active and responsible contributions of Viet Nam to the SEARP, affirming to attach importance to Viet Nam-OECD relations.

The organization commits to working with Viet Nam to grasp new global trends and standards for appropriate development policy planning.

Established in 1960, the OECD currently comprises 38 members, primarily being developed countries. Its objective is to enhance economic cooperation and policy coordination among member countries on economic and development issues.

Since 2007, the OECD has significantly promoted cooperation with Southeast Asia, considering the region a strategic priority./.
