Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van

The Viet Nam National Commission for UNESCO, established on June 15, 1977, is responsible for advising and assisting the Prime Minister in relations with UNESCO and directing and coordinating the activities of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities related to UNESCO.

The Committee consists of five Subcommittees: Education; Culture; Information; Natural Sciences; Social Sciences. In addition, the Committee also has specialized subcommittees and a Secretariat.

Last week, Viet Nam was elected as the Vice President of the 43rd session of the UNESCO’s General Conference which is taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Viet Nam has nine World Heritage Sites, including two trans-provincial sites and one transboundary site – Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park (Quang Tri) and Hin Nam No National Park (Laos)./.
